Sandy Relief
Our heartfelt prayers go out to those affected by Hurricane Sandy - many of them are our friends, our neighbors, and even our families.
While there are a number of relief efforts already underway, recovery in the tri-state area will take weeks, months, and even years to bring back normalcy to our community. With that said, we at the Hand Crafted Tasting Co. want to do our part to help during our December 1st NYC Craft Beer Festival - Winter Harvest and have founded the Sandy Relief Supplies Drive.
So here's the deal, we want to partner with you, our loyal craft beer community, to help benefit our neighbors in the Breezy Point community of Queens. Many, many items will still be needed for months after the storm. We'll be collecting essential, badly needed items and children's Christmas presents for our neighbors in Breezy Point (details on supplies needed below). Before you come to the festival, raid the pantry and/or garage, or add an item to your grocery cart and bring a donation to help those affected by the storm!
At this point, you may be asking why "Breezy Point?" when so many communities were impacted by the storm. While we wish we could help everyone in need at this time, we know that isn't possible. As an event production company, Hand Crafted Tasting Co. and our parent company, Mad Dog Presents, have produced many events on Governor's Island, on the Brooklyn Waterfront, and beyond - and have continually been privileged to work with some of New York City's finest and bravest in the NYPD and FDNY during the planning and execution of our events. Each day these public servants put their lives on the lines for us - and in Breezy Point many of these first responders lost a lot themsevles, in many instances their own homes, while working through the night to keep their neighbors safe. This bravery and commitment to community is what helped us decide that we would start with the Breezy Point community!
With that said, we kindly ask you to join us in this effort by bringing a donation to the Winter Festival on December 1st to support our neighbors. Please consider bringing any of the following items - we'll pack them up and deliver them to Breezy Point after the festival! In addition to the much needed items listed below, we'll also be collecting children's Christmas presents as many families will be struggling during the holidays to provide for their families.
(We'll be updating this list as we get more information from the Breezy Point FDNY!)
- Flashlights
- Batteries (size C and D most needed)
- Work gloves
- Debris removal equipment, shovels, rakes, brooms, and crowbars
- Tools (hand and power)
- Mold remediation materials

- Cleaning supplies
- Heavy duty garbage bags

Let's show our neighbors that the Craft Beer Community is strong, loyal, and a good neighbor to all like the Breezy Point & Rockaway's first responders!
The producers are working with Governor Cuomo's Disaster Relief Team to make sure that the supplies collected by the NYC Craft Beer Festival go to the victims who need it most. Thank you to everyone working with us to make this a big success.
